Last week, many Americans got together with family and friends to celebrate Independence Day. Also known as the Fourth of July, this day celebrates the United States becoming an independent country. Most Americans celebrate by barbecuing, watching fireworks, and wearing lots of red white and blue. Even in Japan, I usually cook some hamburgers and get together with friends to celebrate the occasion.

 

 

先週、多くのアメリカ人が家族や友人と一緒に独立記念日を祝うために集まりました。この日は「Fourth of July（7月4日）」とも呼ばれ、アメリカが独立国となったことを祝います。ほとんどのアメリカ人はバーベキューをしたり、花火を見たり、赤、白、青の色を身に着けたりして祝います。私も日本で、通常はハンバーガーを焼いたり友人と集まったりしてこのイベントを祝います。
