Pancake Day

Spring is here and Easter is just around the corner. In the UK we have a very interesting tradition called Pancake Day. Families usually eat pancakes for dinner on this day.This year it was on February 21st, but every year the date moves. It's always on a Tuesday.

UK pancakes are not the same as US ones. Our pancakes are thin, like crepes, and are usually flavoured with lemon and sugar. We roll them up and eat them with a knife and fork. Every year my family would spend the evening making pancakes. We would have pancake flipping competitions which usually resulted in a pancake disaster!

It's a lot of fun and I recommend having a pancake competition as something fun to do at the weekend. Why not try making UK pancakes!

春になり、イースターも近いです。イギリスではパンケーキの日という文化があります。当日、多くの家庭がパンケーキを食べます。今年は2月21日でしたが、毎年日付が変わるそうですが、必ず火曜日に行われます。

イギリスのパンケーキはアメリカのパンケーキと異なり、クレープのように薄いです。また、レモンと砂糖の味も混ざっています。私たちはパンケーキを巻いて、ナイフとフォークでいただきます。毎年私の家族はパンケーキの日の夕方にパンケーキを作ってパンケーキのひっくり返すゲームをします。その結果、周りがいつも汚れてしまいました。

イギリスのパンケーキはいかがでしょうか？作ったりひっくり返したりする楽しい文化です。ぜひご家族でも遊んでください。
