栃木県宇都宮市にある社会人のための英会話教室「マコーマック・イングリッシュコーチング」

Last weekend was Utsunomiya gyouza festival in the Castle Ruins Park right by our Utsunomiya English school.   I cycled past the park too early for any fried guouza to be ready but could see stall vendors preparing their stores under a bright blue morning sky.  I’m glad the weather was good which meant that lots of people turned up.  

 

One of my friends who owns a popular restaurant in town was operating a stall there.  He said he and his staff made 10,000 gyouza for the event during the last few weeks. I asked how many freezers he has, and how long it all  took, and he estimated at about half a minute for each gyouza which we calculated is roughly about 83 man-hours (is my math ok?).  That’s a lot of skin folding!

 

Despite the hard work involved he and I agreed that the Gyouza Festival is a great event for showcasing Utsunomiya which is famous city for gyouza. If you visit it next year, you can eat many different kinds of gyouza from many different local restaurants, so make sure you’re hungry!

 

先週末は、私たちの英語学校のすぐ近くにある宇都宮城址公園にて、宇都宮餃子祭りが開かれました。 1つの餃子を包むののに、30秒かかるとして、なんと83時間！

大変な作業ではありますが、彼も私も餃子で有名な宇都宮市を紹介するには

最高のお祭りだと思っています。

色々な種類の餃子が、たくさんの地元レストランから出店されます。
